Greg Alban is a recognized master teacher in the Los Angeles area who studied with Ray Rackle & Charlie Brown as a child in Columbus Ohio. While attending Ohio University Alban performed with the Ohio University Jazz Ensemble and studied with Guy Remonko. In 1973 he moved to LA to pursue a career in the music business and started studying with Chuck Flores, Joe Porcaro and conga master Jerry Stienholtz and then with the legendary Richard Wilson. Greg studied with Wilson for 27 years and became one of his most celebrated students. Greg's current instructor is jazz legend, Joe Morello with whom he has been studying with since 1994. Greg is currently on staff at Peninsula School of Music and feels privileged to pass along the knowledge he has gained.
Greg has performed all over the world including Las Vegas shows with Mel Carter. He led his own band for many years in the Los Angeles area. Greg performed concerts with the Miracles from (Smokey Robinson & the Miracles) at the Los Angeles Forum and Disney Land while their recording of “Love Machine” was the # 1 record in the country.
Greg performed with Jerry Salas (El Chicano) & John Avila (Oingo Boingo) in the band Legacy in the LA area. Greg played drums along with Bill Bruford on “Time Code” by Patrick Moraz which is currently being re released.
In 1999 Greg recorded a new version of the famous drum song “Wipe Out” with Eddie Bertrand on guitar & John Avila on bass.
In 2004 Greg played drums on “Radio Ready Drum Tracks” a drum loop CD featuring Greg, Tony Moore, Willie Ornelas, John Bermuda Schwartz, Luis Cardenas, Mark Droubay & Al Salas. Greg played on about 40 % of the drum loops for the CD. You can hear Greg’s drumming on the TV show the “Price is Right”. The song is Waltzing Matilda where Greg plays all the drum parts and it sounds like a large drum section. It is still constantly being played. This was recorded at Dino M 4 Recording Studios in LA where Greg is one of the house drummers.
Greg is currently in the studio working on his solo project called GAP (The Greg Alban Project.) The music was written for Greg’s solo CD by Patrick Moraz. Patrick plays all the Keyboards & is also Co-Producer. The CD is being recorded at Total Access Recording Studios in LA.

Guitar Lessons http://theguitarschool.com
These are some of the guitar styles our instructors teach at Peninsula School of Music's Guitar School:
We believe that the majority of students get more out of their lessons, and progress at a much faster rate if they can learn the styles of music that they love. Every student is taught the same fundamentals in regards to music theory. The only difference is, is that one person may be taught their "do re mi's" with their favorite rock band while another may learn the same basic theory, but with Mozart.
Intermediate & Advanced Guitar Students
With special emphasis toward the self-taught guitarist, our more advanced instruction is designed to "fill in the gaps."
Blues, rock and jazz improvisation; performance skills, and practical music theory are the order of the day. Topics include improvisational techniques, scales beyond the pentatonic/blues scales, phrasing, chord progressions, progressive scale techniques, left and right hand technique, triads, arpeggios, intervals, advanced chord forms, rhythm, scale and chord theory, definitions, transposition and musical styles.
